From May 21 - 30, 2021, the next Photoszene Festival will take place in Cologne - taking into account the current situation under the claim Photoszene United*. The special feature is the combination of a curated program and exhibitions throughout the city, hosted by the actors of art and photography. This puts the unique range of photographic images in Cologne in the spotlight.

All Cologne museums, galleries and exhibition spaces, as well as freelance photographers with appropriate spaces, are again invited to submit ideas for photographic exhibitions and projects. We are looking forward to many exciting contributions! Since December 1, 2020, exhibitions can be officially registered for participation in Photoszene United* on our website. However, you are welcome to contact us earlier if you have questions or need tips. We are here for you! Your contact persons this year are Rosanna D'Ortona and Anna Döbbelin:

As always, the Photoszene also invites you to an information evening in advance - this year virtually and also exclusively in German:

The time is running, the excitement is rising: As of now, we are intensively preparing the Photoszene-Festival in May 2021, to which we want to give the claim Photoszene United* this year, taking into account the general situation.

At a time when we are all still trying to contain the pandemic, it is a false sign to speak of a festival in the true sense of the word, evoking images of grand openings, long art evenings and festival parties. A festival lives from interaction, exchange in real space - all this will probably not be able to take place without restrictions at the end of May.
Nevertheless, we are sure that exhibitions can be visited and events can take place (somehow), and we are happy to be chosen for the "dive in.  Program for Digital Interactions of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) in the NEUSTART KULTUR program", which opens up many possibilities for hybrid formats of communication for us. In this way, we can still let as many people as possible participate in the content of the program.

Photoszene United* should therefore on the one hand look realistically at what is feasible at the end of May and at the same time make it clear that cultural workers, artists and curators remain visible through their essential work even in this crisis with joint strength and cooperation.

Phoszene United* is our answer to the current restrictions in the cultural sector as a demonstration of a strong togetherness and we are looking forward to a still inspiring and joyful discussion about photography here in Cologne with as many actors as possible.
