Chargesheimer photographs Jazz
The Rheinisches Bildarchiv (RBA) possesses approximately 40,000 black-and-white negatives by the Cologne photographer Chargesheimer (1924-1971). These include a number of hitherto largely unnoticed photographs on Cologne’s jazz scene, of which a major part is on show publicly and from an image archive perspective for the first time. The exhibition opens an exciting chapter of Cologne’s jazz history, from the cool jazz of the 50s through to the music of Cologne’s major jazz big bands in the 60s of the 20th century.
